Goodness me, here at Tea & Sympathy we’ve got technology coming out of our ears. We’ve set ourselves up a shiny new Youtube channel and have been ploughing through the press we received leading up to the Royal Wedding. We were so flattered by all the attention and were delighted that so many lovely journalists headed down to ask our opinion on it all and to celebrate the big day with us. It almost meant as much to us as all our darling customers who stopped by to share their thoughts and excitement and stock up on wedding memorabilia. We really were touched by the whole thing. And goodness me – that dress! Needless to say, we loved it.
The lovely people over at Daily Candy stopped in to find out our recipe for Prince William’s favorite teatime treat, Chocolate Crunch Cake, which we served in the restaurant in the run up to the big day. A wickedly delicious mixture of Rich Tea biscuits, raisins and mixed nuts, all bound together with dark chocolate, milk chocolate, melted butter and sweetened condensed milk and smothered in melted dark chocolate – it’s no surprise it went down a storm!
While they were here, they asked Nicky to demonstrate how to whip up Marmite soldiers. Unbelievably simple, and astoundingly delicious, these are a must to add to your repertoire of British dishes. Marmite is quintessentially British; a salty yeast extract classically spread on toast which, as the well-known advertising slogan goes, you either love it or you hate it (which is a point of major contention in British society).
